NaV1.7 is evenly distributed in the cell bodies of large-diameter and small-diameter DRG neurons, and is expressed at high levels in nociceptive neurons along the identified Aβ-fibers and C fibers. NaV1.7 exists in the periphery of free nerve endings in the epidermis and in the center of the superficial layer of the spinal dorsal horn.
